Binance, one of the top cryptocurrencies and blockchains, has announced its collaboration with the confederation of African Football (CAF).
While cryptocurrency adoption is gaining popularity globally, the continent of Africa seems to have minor participants in digital assets.
Several sports activities such as football and basketball are receiving crypto sponsorships and backing to promote the place of digital assets worldwide. However, Binance remains of the crypto blockchain that has been involved in such sponsorships.
This announcement came just as the African most prominent men’s football championship, the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, starts on Monday.
Moreover, Binance declared its official sponsorship for this upcoming AFCON tournament. This move places Binance as the first crypto blockchain to sponsor the AFCON tournament.

Furthermore, the sponsorship deal authorizes Binance to be the promoter of the social media content of CAF. The content comprises the tournament’s assist, assist of the week, and assist of the day. Also, the content will include games from Cameroon’s five cities, stretching through all the six venues for the event.
The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament is the initiating event within the calendar of African sporting activities. This year’s event is expected to run through till February 6.
Expectations Of Binance Partnership With Confederation of African Football
In an acknowledgment speech, the CAF general secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba, expressed his delight while welcoming Binance as the Official sponsor for this year’s AFCON tournament. He further talked about his optimism with the partnership of Binance. He mentioned that it would be a source of promoting African football to a new and higher level.
On the part of Binance, Emmanuel Babalola, the company’s director for Africa, spoke on behalf of the company. He said that football stands as the most prominent sport in Africa. Hence, the crypto-exchange is leveraging the sponsorship in corroborating the company’s mission of pushing crypto mainstream throughout the entire African continent.
The partnership between the crypto exchange and CAF is included in the ongoing campaign plan to provide financial services to Africans.
According to their strategy, the collaboration will help Africans who had limited access to banks and other financial organizations in the past.
