- IOTA Foundation’s regulatory affairs manager explains how they are undertaking key projects spanning sustainability initiatives.
- Besides, she added that the IOTA Foundation is also increasing its focus on the recently emerging field of DeFi, NFT and Web3.
Since the very beginning, the IOTA blockchain network has been involved with several sustainability-related projects in the market. Every project that IOTA undertakes has an outlook toward sustainability which is now embedded into IOTA’s cor technological development.
The International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA) recently published a report on the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT) for peer-to-peer energy trading and blockchain network IOTA was one of the preferred choices for the project.
At the Next Bloc Expo, German businessman Patrik Kraus recently conducted an interview with Mariana de la Roche Wills, the co-chair at INATBA, discussing IOTA’s commitment to sustainability and positive social impact. In the interview, Mariana, who’s also the regulatory affairs manager at the IOTA Foundation stated that the IOTA foundation is putting a greater focus on DeFi and Web3.
As we know, the IOTA Foundation has been working with several government institutions across projects in the past. But Mariana said that off lately they have been venturing into new developments such as the launch of Soonaverse for NFT development. These NFT projects have also helped artists raise funds for Ukraine amid its ongoing war with Russia.
If you are curious about what I have been up to lately, my interview with @patrik_crp at the @nextblockexpo #Berlin is a good summary. We discussed @iota community projects and some of the initiatives we have with @INATBA_org and the regulatory efforts we have in place https://t.co/rz438XnmwH

Taking IOTA Use-Case to Masses
The IOTA Foundation executive Mariana de la Roche Wills said that the focus is currently on getting the technology to the masses. Besides, they seek to make blockchain use for average people much simpler, as it is to using a smartphone.
The goal of IOTA is to onboard more players onto the blockchain and help them improve their efficiency by leveraging the power of technology. For this, IOTA has also backup from the United Nations General Assembly, said Mariana.
Mariana said that government institutions are understanding the benefits of decentralization using blockchain and thus, they are moving away from centralized institutions that have a single point of failure. Blockchain technology could help government institutions preserve citizens’ data and records in a much more efficient manner. Besides, blockchain helps to establish a trust layer for different governments to work together on projects, says Mariana.
