Experience
Born and raised in Varanasi, India—one of the oldest cities in the world, Vinamrata Chaturvedi has been a journalist for years and currently covers cryptocurrency and blockchain. She believes financial literacy is essential for personal growth, and her educational journey to covering the crypto market began in 2016 when the Central Bank of India demonetized 500 and 1,000 rupee notes. The incident led her to believe that financial power should be in the hands of the people—not a centralized authority. She recently served as a crypto writer for StockTwits—one of the largest social media platforms for investors and traders. Before that, her work was published on various cryptocurrency news sites such as CoinDesk, CoinMarketCap, and Bitcoin Magazine.
Until she moved to New York in 2019, she worked for German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle in Bonn, where she anchored and produced gender-related stories. In India, she worked with The Times Group, where she reported on various economic, social, and political issues, including a path-breaking story on gang rape. Her journalism career began in 2013 with CNBC in Mumbai.
Education
Vinamrata received her master’s degree in business and economic reporting at New York University. In India, she earned her diploma from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication and received a bachelor of commerce degree from Banaras Hindu University.
Quote from Vinamrata Chaturvedi
French poet and novelist Victor Hugo once remarked, “Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come.” I feel this sentiment is so true of the future of finance, which has undergone a tremendous transformation with the implementation of blockchain technology.
